2026-2027 Meeting Schedule<\/strong><\/h2>

Wisconsin Smallmouth Alliance and the Badger Fly Fishers have resumed monthly meetings.\u00a0 The Thirsty Goat restaurant, 3040 Cahill Main, Fitchburg, will be our monthly meeting site.<\/strong>\u00a0 The Thirsty Goat offers a quiet room which will seat 50 people, excellent and affordable food, and a small bar in the room serving multiple refreshments.\u00a0 Meetings for both the WSA and BFF will begin with a social hour\/dinner starting at 5:30pm and the general meeting starting at 6:30pm.<\/strong>\u00a0 We encourage members to join us for dinner if it will work into your schedule.\u00a0 WSA and BFF meetings will occur on the first Wednesday of the month as listed below.\u00a0 Please note that the WSA and BFF meetings will alternate each month.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Capt. Alex Welter \u2014 Bass Angler, Guide & Tournament Fisherman<\/b><\/p>

Presentation: Smallmouth Through the Seasons on the Mississippi<\/p>

\"Two<\/a>Alex Welter is a lifelong Mississippi River angler, bass fishing guide, and tournament\u00a0 fisherman based near La Crosse, Wisconsin. Growing up along the river, Alex developed a\u00a0 deep understanding of the Upper Mississippi\u2019s unique backwaters, channels, wing dams,\u00a0 and current systems. Today, he puts that experience to work both guiding clients and\u00a0 competing in bass tournaments throughout the region.\u00a0<\/p>

As the owner and guide behind River Bent Outfitters, Alex specializes in pursuing\u00a0 largemouth and smallmouth bass on the Mississippi River and its surrounding backwaters.\u00a0 His approach is built around adapting to changing river conditions and understanding how\u00a0 bass position themselves throughout the seasons. Tournament fishing has further\u00a0 sharpened his ability to quickly locate productive water, identify patterns, and adjust\u00a0 presentations when conditions change.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
