Last year many of the WSA members communicated with representatives of the Sturgeon Bay Council, City Parks, etc encouraging the “weigh on the water” format for the multiple SMB tournaments now popular in the Door county waters.\u00a0 SMB anglers were excited that it appeared that there would be some restrictions for the months of May and June–prime spawning periods.\u00a0 As the article mentions, there were more complications with this ruling and then more opposition surfaced by the business community and tournament operators. WSA and other anglers concerned about the long term health of the SMB fishery in this heavily fished area will still be vocal in protecting our favorite fish.<\/p>\n
